Modernist architecture destroyed the human scale of our cities. I grew up near a 1960s concrete tower block, and while it was efficient, the plaza below felt empty and windswept. We replaced ornate facades with blank walls, and the street life vanished with them. Can we really say that trade-off was worth it?
