Is High-Protein Diet Safe for Kidneys in the Long Term?
I've been on a high-protein diet for six months, and my trainer swears by it, but my blood work shows mild kidney stress that wasn't there before. Sure, I've gained muscle and lost fat, but is that worth a potential long-term risk to my kidneys? I've read studies that suggest high protein is safe for healthy people, yet my own numbers contradict that blanket claim. Maybe the problem is that we treat protein as if it's completely harmless, ignoring individual differences in metabolism and existing conditions. Should we really promote high-protein diets so universally without more careful screening?
