Is broadcast television still relevant in the streaming age?
I was flipping through channels last night—something I rarely do anymore since everything is on demand—and I caught a live debate on a local station. It got me thinking: does broadcast television still hold any real value in the age of streaming, or is it just a relic kept alive by sports and news? I mean, there's something about the shared experience of watching the same show at the same time, but the convenience of choosing what I watch, when I watch, is hard to beat. And with streaming services now even airing weekly episodes, that sense of appointment viewing is creeping back. So, are we better off without traditional TV schedules, or do they actually help us connect with each other in ways that algorithms can't replicate?
