In my job as a team lead, I've seen brilliant coders fail to explain their ideas while less technical folks get promoted faster because they speak clearly. We hire for technical skills but fire and promote based on soft ones. So is it fair that someone with average hard skills but excellent communication can outperform a genius who can't collaborate? I've also noticed that soft skills are rarely taught in schools, leaving many to learn them by trial and error. This makes me question if we overvalue them in hiring processes or if they're genuinely the key to career success.
