In my daughter's middle school, homework now takes up to three hours a night, and I just read a study showing that after 90 minutes, the academic benefit flatlines. Teachers defend the load as necessary for discipline, but my kid is exhausted and losing interest in learning itself. I believe schools should cap homework at one hour per subject, if not eliminate it outright for younger grades. Wouldn't reducing busywork actually let kids explore passions and still learn responsibility?
