Do companies actually reward soft skills or just say they do?
In hiring for developer roles in Hanoi, I've watched managers say they want 'communication' and 'teamwork,' but every shortlist still comes down to who can debug the fastest. Soft skills don't get you past the technical test; they only matter after you're already in the room. Maybe that's fair—code is the measurable part—but we pretend interviews measure collaboration when they really measure who studied LeetCode hardest. Do companies actually reward soft skills, or is that just a line in the job description?
