Are ad blockers actually good for the advertising industry?
I've worked in digital marketing for six years, and I'm starting to think ad blockers are actually a net positive for the industry, not the enemy they're made out to be. When I see that 84% of consumers say they skip or ignore ads they can't block, the numbers don't lie—forced impressions just train people to distrust brands. What if advertising that survives is the stuff that's genuinely useful, like sponsored content that solves a problem or a sale I actually wanted to know about? Sure, I've had campaigns tank because of low viewability, but maybe that's a sign we were annoying people rather than serving them.
