Are subtitled films always better than dubbed ones?
I've watched over 200 films this year alone, and the more I see, the more I believe that subtitles don't ruin a movie—they actually enhance it. When I watch a foreign film with subtitles, I catch nuances in dialogue that dubbing inevitably flattens, and I stay more engaged because I'm reading along with the performance. Sure, some people find them distracting, but I've never missed a visual moment because of them, and my appreciation for the original acting only grows. So, is watching a film with subtitles always better than watching a dubbed version?
