Is solo travel the only way to truly experience a place?
I've traveled to 14 countries in the last five years, and I'm convinced that traveling solo is the only way to truly experience a place. When you travel with others, you're constantly negotiating where to eat, what to see, and how long to stay, which dilutes the raw, unfiltered encounter with a new culture. Even though I've had amazing trips with friends, I've noticed that my solo journeys—like wandering through Tokyo's back alleys at midnight or hiking the Cinque Terre alone—stay with me far longer. Sure, solo travel can feel lonely at times, but isn't that loneliness actually a doorway to deeper self-awareness and genuine connection with locals?
