Does true productivity rely more on personal motivation than on specific techniques?
I've tracked my own output across different productivity methods for the last six years, and I'm convinced that no single technique—whether Pomodoro, time blocking, or getting up at 5 a.m.—actually works long-term. The ones that stick always hinge on some deeper personal motivation, not the system itself. Sure, I can measure that I wrote 20% more emails during a 'deep work' sprint, but that gain vanished as soon as I lost interest in the project. If we're honest, most productivity advice is just a way to delay the real question: why are you doing the task at all?
