Are we overprotecting LGBTQ+ youth by removing all adversity?
I've seen studies suggesting that LGBTQ+ students in supportive schools have better mental health outcomes, but I wonder if the focus on acceptance has gone too far. Are we prioritizing comfort over resilience by shielding young people from all forms of adversity, even when that adversity stems from their identity? I don't deny that discrimination harms, but I question whether the solution is to remove every obstacle or to help them build thicker skin. Maybe the real debate is about where the line between protection and overprotection lies.
