I've seen my own kids lose hours to algorithm-driven apps, and I'm convinced that children under 12 should be banned from using social media entirely. Brain development during those years is too vulnerable to the constant comparison and dopamine hits these platforms engineer. Even with parental controls, the pressure to fit in online seeps into school life, and it's not something a five-year-old can process. Some parents will say it's about teaching digital literacy early, but I'd argue we're just outsourcing our discomfort to kids who aren't ready.
