Is psychology's self-help industry built on shaky findings?
I've read dozens of studies on cognitive biases, yet the replication crisis in psychology makes me wonder if we've built entire self-help industries on shaky ground. Take the concept of 'grit'—it predicts success in some samples but fails in others, so why do we still treat it as a universal truth? Maybe it's time to admit that many psychological findings need more rigorous validation before they shape parenting advice or workplace policies. Do you agree that psychology's self-help applications are overconfident, or is the field unfairly singled out?
