Is labeling disagreement as harmful undermining constructive debate?
I've noticed that when people discuss social issues, they often label any disagreement as harmful or wrong. For instance, in local community meetings about housing density, those who raise concerns are sometimes dismissed as selfish, even when they offer valid points about infrastructure strain. Are we losing the ability to debate constructively by equating dissent with immorality, or is some level of rigidity necessary to protect progress? I'm not sure, but I think healthy societies need room for uncomfortable questions without branding every skeptic as an enemy.
