Is the popularity of translated books overshadowing local authors?
I've noticed that book clubs in my city are increasingly choosing translated works over local authors, and it makes me wonder if we're losing something important in the process. At my last meeting, we discussed a novel from Korea, and while the discussion was rich, I couldn't help but think about the voices we might be overlooking closer to home. Do you think the global appeal of foreign literature is overshadowing the need to support and understand our own cultural narratives? Or is this just a natural evolution of how we connect through stories in a more interconnected world?
