Does online learning's flexibility outweigh its drawbacks for most students?
I've just finished my third full semester of online courses, and I'm starting to question whether the flexibility of remote learning is worth the costs. My attention span during recorded lectures is at an all-time low, and I often find myself multitasking instead of absorbing material. What's more, collaboration with classmates through a screen feels forced, and the networking opportunities that happen naturally in a physical classroom just don't emerge. Some of my friends thrive though—they love saving two hours of commuting and working at midnight when they're most productive. Do you think the convenience of online education truly outweighs its disadvantages for most students, or have we been sold a myth of progress by tech companies and universities?
