Should cities prioritize bike lanes over widening roads?
I've driven the same commute for seven years, and the new bike lane on Main Street has cut car traffic by 15%—so why do we still insist on widening roads instead of investing more in cycling infrastructure? Every time I hear a proposal to add another lane, I wonder if we're just repeating a failed experiment. Yes, cars are convenient and sometimes necessary, but the evidence keeps showing that more lanes mean more congestion, not less. So, should cities prioritize bike lanes over expanding car capacity?
