Are dedicated transit lanes the only way to fix urban traffic?
I've driven the same 10-mile commute through downtown for five years, and it now takes me 50 minutes instead of 25. Dedicated bus lanes, protected bike paths, and light rail seem like the obvious fix, but every proposal gets blocked by drivers who fear losing their lanes. Is expanding public transit in dense cities really the only sustainable solution to traffic congestion, or are we just trading one inconvenience for another?
