Is the real cost of EVs hidden in insurance and depreciation?
I've driven both a Tesla Model 3 and a gas-powered Honda Civic for the past year, and the real cost difference isn't what the sticker says. My electricity bill for charging at home runs about $45 a month, while I used to spend $160 on gas — but the EV's insurance jumped $30 monthly and the depreciation after three years is brutal. Are we ignoring that most EV buyers are wealthy enough to afford a second car, leaving the rest of us with used gas guzzlers that'll pollute for another decade?
