Can pets and babies coexist safely with supervision?
I've been watching my dog's behavior around my newborn, and I'm starting to think pets and babies can coexist safely with the right supervision. My vet told me that most incidents happen because parents ignore warning signs, not because the animal is inherently dangerous. Yet I know a family whose cat scratched their toddler's face badly enough to need stitches, and they had to rehome the animal. Should we really trust pets completely around infants, or is the risk just too high to justify keeping them together?
