Are exotic pets ever worth the risk?
I've been volunteering at a local shelter for two years, and I've watched people adopt 'exotic' pets like hedgehogs and sugar gliders only to surrender them within months. The animals end up stressed, the owners are disappointed, and the shelter foots the vet bills. Keeping wild animals as pets rarely works out for the animal, but maybe I'm biased from seeing the failures rather than the rare successes. Do you think the trade-off is ever worth it?
