Is there a universal ideal protein intake for muscle gain?
I've been tracking my protein intake for months now, and I'm puzzled by the conflicting advice on how much is actually needed for muscle gain. Some fitness experts swear by 2.2 grams per kilogram of body weight, while others claim 1.6 is plenty for most people. My own experience shows that I didn't notice any extra progress when I pushed beyond 1.8 grams, but I also know people who swear by higher amounts. With so many variables like age, training intensity, and genetics, can we really pin down a universal number? Or is the obsession with protein grams just a marketing push from supplement companies? I'm curious if anyone has seen solid research or personal results that settle this—what's your take on the ideal protein intake for building muscle?
