Should we stop suppressing anxiety and accept negative emotions?
I've been tracking my own reactions to stressful emails and deadlines for a month, and the pattern is clear: the more I try to suppress anxiety, the louder it gets. Psychological research backs this up—thought suppression often backfires, making intrusive thoughts more frequent. So, is it time to stop telling ourselves to 'just stay calm' and instead practice radical acceptance of negative emotions? I'm leaning toward yes, but I wonder if some people genuinely benefit from positive reframing.
