I've been tracking airline emissions data for a few years now, and the industry's progress per passenger is real but often overstated. A flight from New York to London still emits around 1.2 tons of CO2 per economy passenger, and sustainable aviation fuel makes up less than 0.1% of current use. So, can we honestly say that flying is becoming sustainable enough to meet our climate goals, or are we just shifting the burden to future technologies that may not scale in time?
