Is online education truly less effective than face-to-face learning?
I've been teaching university courses for six years, and the shift to online learning during the pandemic made me question whether virtual classrooms can ever truly replace face-to-face interaction. My students who thrive in person often struggle to stay engaged through a screen, yet others who are shy in class suddenly participate more actively in discussion forums. Is it fair to say that online education is inherently less effective, or are we just measuring success with outdated metrics that favor traditional settings?
