I've been teaching college courses for five years now, and I keep going back and forth on whether online classes truly prepare students as well as in-person ones. Last semester, my hybrid section scored 8% higher on final exams than the fully online group, but attendance in the online section was also more erratic—so maybe it's about self-discipline rather than the format itself. Have any of you seen data or personal experiences that settle this?
