Is vintage lens character worth the sharpness trade-off?
I've been shooting with vintage glass on my mirrorless camera for six months now, and the sharpness difference is real—modern lenses beat them on contrast and edge-to-edge clarity almost every time. But I keep coming back to the old 50mm because it renders skin tones and highlights in a way that feels alive, not clinical. Is chasing that character worth the softness and flare issues, or am I just romanticizing the flaws?
