I've been shooting film for years and recently tried a fully manual vintage lens on my digital body. The slowness forces you to think before pressing the shutter, but I keep wondering if that's just nostalgia talking. Are we overvaluing the process of photography while ignoring that smartphone cameras now capture moments we'd otherwise miss? Maybe the real skill isn't in the gear but in noticing when to look up from the screen. Could we be losing something essential by not always worrying about settings and composition?
