I've been rereading Camus and wondering if absurdism can actually function as a daily ethic rather than just a literary pose. Last week, I tried to live like Sisyphus—embracing my mundane office tasks as meaningful in themselves—but I kept slipping into cynicism, thinking 'this is all pointless anyway.' Maybe the absurd hero isn't someone who finds joy in the struggle, but someone who simply refuses to hope for transcendence, which sounds bleak but also strangely liberating. Is there a sustainable way to hold the absurdist view without falling into despair or false cheerfulness, or is it inevitably a privileged intellectual luxury?
