Do wearable health trackers actually improve health or just cause stress?
I've been reading about the surge in wearable health trackers and how they're supposed to make us healthier, but I'm starting to wonder if they actually help or just add another layer of stress to our lives. My friend with a smartwatch checks her heart rate obsessively after every workout, and she's ended up at the doctor twice for false alarms. Sure, these devices can spot irregularities, but do they genuinely improve long-term health outcomes, or do they just give us more data to panic about? The evidence on whether wearables change behavior is still pretty mixed, especially when you consider that most people ditch them within months. So, should we really be pushing everyone to wear these things, or are they just a gimmick for the worried well?
