Does resilience depend more on community than on personal traits?
I've been reading about resilience research and noticed that most studies focus on individual traits like grit or optimism, but what about the role of community support or socioeconomic factors? A friend of mine overcame a major setback largely because her neighborhood rallied around her—something that wouldn't show up in a personality questionnaire. Could it be that we overemphasize personal strength and ignore the systemic conditions that make resilience possible? I'm genuinely curious whether resilience is more about the environment than the person.
