Does gaming really improve reaction time and focus in adults?
I've been playing competitive shooters for years, and lately I've been wondering if gaming is actually helping or hurting my reaction time and focus. While some studies suggest action games improve visual attention, I've also noticed that after a two-hour session, I feel more scattered and less able to concentrate on work. But maybe that's just because I play late at night and don't sleep enough. Do the cognitive benefits of gaming for adults outweigh the potential downsides like reduced real-world patience or increased impulsivity? I'd love to hear from others who've tracked their own performance.
