I've been planning a solo trip to Vietnam for months, and every time I mention it, someone warns me about safety or scams. But my cousin just came back from two weeks there and said she felt safer than in her own city at night. Is the fear around traveling to developing countries mostly overblown, or are people right to be cautious?
