I've been part of a small church community for over a decade, and I'm starting to wonder if religion is actually necessary for living a moral life. We often hear that without religion, people would have no basis for ethics, but I've met plenty of atheists who are just as kind and principled as any believer I know. Maybe morality comes from empathy and social upbringing, not from divine command. Is religion truly essential, or can we build a solid ethical framework on reason alone?
