Is whole-food ‘clean eating’ worth the extra cost for families?
I’ve been meal-prepping for two years, but I'm starting to doubt whether whole foods are always worth the hype. Sure, they’re packed with nutrients, but the cost and time to prep fresh ingredients can be brutal, especially when frozen veggies are just as good and way cheaper. My last grocery bill came to $180 for a week of fresh produce, while a frozen equivalent would have been closer to $100. Do we really need to champion 'clean eating' when it’s pricing out ordinary families? I’m not saying processed junk is fine—I just think the debate around food choices ignores real-world constraints like budget and schedule. Maybe the focus should shift from what’s 'natural' to what’s actually sustainable for each person, but I’m torn because nutrition experts keep pushing whole foods hard.
