Is staying together for the kids more harmful than divorce?
I've been married for twelve years, and I'm starting to think that staying together for the kids does more harm than good. My wife and I argue constantly, and our two teenagers can sense the tension even when we try to hide it. We've talked about divorce, but we always come back to the same excuse: the kids need a stable home. Yet I've read studies showing that children in high-conflict families actually fare worse than those whose parents split amicably. Maybe we're using the kids as a shield to avoid our own fear of starting over.
