Can adults truly achieve native-level fluency in a second language?
I've been learning Spanish for two years and hit a plateau—I can read and write fine, but speaking still feels clumsy. Some polyglots say adults can achieve native fluency, yet others argue a foreign accent and grammar slips are inevitable after puberty. Is it realistic to expect native-level proficiency, or should we settle for being understood? My tutor insists I'm capable, but I'm not sure if that's encouragement or denial.
