Should retail investors pick individual stocks in Vietnam or use index funds?
I've been investing in Vietnamese stocks for about four years, and I still wonder if the average retail investor should even bother trying to pick individual stocks here. With only a few hundred listed companies and heavy influence from large shareholders, the market often feels more like a game of follow-the-money than a place for fundamental analysis. Do you think a simple index fund strategy actually works in Vietnam, or is it better to stick with a few well-researched names and hold them long-term? I've seen both approaches succeed and fail, so I'm genuinely curious where other people land on this.
