Should individual actions take priority over systemic change to fight climate change?
I've been following the new IPCC report that says individual lifestyle changes could cut emissions by up to 5 gigatons by 2030, yet many activists argue we should focus only on systemic shifts. I fly twice a year for family and gave up my car for a bike last summer, which saved about 1.2 tons of CO2 — but that's a drop in the ocean compared to what corporations emit. Is it realistic to expect individuals to make meaningful sacrifices when the biggest polluters keep expanding? I'm genuinely torn between feeling responsible for my own footprint and knowing the math doesn't add up without policy change. Should we really push personal action as the primary solution, or is that just shifting blame onto consumers?
