Are today's kids losing resilience to over-scheduling?
I've been comparing how my parents raised me in the 90s with how I'm raising my own kids now, and the shift toward structured activities and constant supervision feels extreme. Free play after school until the streetlights came on was normal back then, but now parents worry about everything from abductions to academic slippage if a child isn't in a club or tutoring. My question is: are we actually raising children better equipped for adulthood, or have we traded resilience and independence for anxiety and over-scheduling?
