Do dedicated bike lanes truly increase cycling rates?
I've been commuting by bike for three years now, and I'm genuinely curious whether people think dedicated bike lanes actually make a difference in how many of us choose to ride. In my city, they added a protected lane on a busy street last summer, and I noticed more casual cyclists, but car traffic didn't seem to ease at all. Could the real reason more folks don't cycle be about safety, or is it something else like distance, weather, or just habit? What's your take on whether infrastructure alone can shift our transport choices, or do we need a deeper cultural change first?
