Should cities prioritize walkability over cars?
I've been an architect for fifteen years, and I keep noticing how our cities prioritize cars over people. Pedestrian zones and mixed-use developments are proven to reduce traffic and improve mental health, yet most new projects still center on parking garages and wide roads. Could rethinking urban design to favor walkability and public transit actually solve more of our social and environmental problems than we admit?
