Is skipping preschool harmful for socialization?
I've been a stay-at-home parent for four years, and everyone keeps telling me I should put my kid in preschool for socialization. But when I look at my niece who started at age 2, she picked up more colds and behavioral mimicry than actual social skills. Sure, experts cite benefits like sharing and following instructions, but those are things I can teach at home too. Are parents like me doing our kids a disservice by skipping early preschool, or is the hype overblown?
