I've always struggled with math, but I'm starting to think that learning pure mathematics, like proofs and abstract algebra, is useless for most people. In my job as a data analyst, I only use statistics and basic calculus, and I've never needed to prove a theorem. Some argue that math trains logical thinking, but I've met plenty of engineers who rely on software and still solve problems fine. So, should we cut down on teaching theoretical math in schools and focus on practical applications instead?
