Is auto-tune a creative tool or a crutch for singers?
I used to think auto-tune was the devil, but then I heard Bon Iver's latest album and changed my mind. When an artist uses it as a creative tool rather than a crutch, it can add texture and emotion that raw vocals can't achieve. Still, I worry that its overuse in pop makes everything sound sterile and identical. Where do you draw the line between enhancement and masking?
