I think we're too quick to pathologize normal sadness with therapy-speak, and it's making us less resilient. For the past year I've been journaling my moods, and what I notice is that many 'bad days' are just ordinary responses to life's setbacks — not symptoms of a disorder. Calling every low mood 'depression' and treating it with mindfulness apps or even professional counseling can actually strip away the coping mechanisms people naturally develop. Are we doing more harm by encouraging everyone to constantly analyze their feelings instead of just sitting with them and moving on?
