I grew up attending church every Sunday, but in my twenties I stopped and never really looked back. What I've noticed is that people who stay religious often point to a sense of community and purpose, while those who leave mention the conflicts with science or personal freedom. So is organized religion still a net positive for society today? Looking at declining attendance and rising secularism in many countries, I'm honestly divided on whether religious institutions are helping people live better lives or holding them back.
