I finally watched Oppenheimer last night, and despite the hype and the awards, I found the three-hour runtime more exhausting than illuminating. The non-linear editing and relentless score left me impressed but emotionally disconnected from the human stakes. Christopher Nolan is often called a genius, but does his technical ambition actually serve the story, or does it just mask a lack of character depth? When a film wins Best Picture, we tend to call it great, but I wonder if we're confusing spectacle with substance. Should we judge a movie by its craft alone, or does emotional resonance matter just as much?
