Historic buildings in city centers should be preserved even if it means blocking new high-rise development. I've watched my own city tear down a 1920s theater for luxury condos, and the neighborhood lost its character. Sure, density and affordable housing matter, but once a landmark is gone, it's gone forever. Can we really claim progress when every skyline starts looking identical?
