Germany's plan to shut down its last nuclear plants in 2023 was a mistake. Since then, the country has had to burn more coal and import expensive electricity from neighbors, which undermines the whole climate argument. I understand the anxiety about waste and safety, but we replaced a low-carbon source with dirtier ones. If your priority is reducing emissions fast, can nuclear really be off the table?
